I've got faith...

It's been a long road
Getting from there to here
It's been a long time
But my time is finally near

And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Nothing's in my way
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna hold me down

'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe, I can do anything

I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star, I've got faith
I've got faith, faith of the heart

It's been a long night
Trying to find my way
Been through the darkness
Now I finally have my day

And I will see my dream come alive at last
I will touch the sky
And they're not gonna hold me down no more
No they're not gonna change my mind

'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe, I can do anything

I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star, I've got faith
Faith of the heart

I've known a wind so cold and seen the darkest days
But now the winds I feel are only winds of change
I've been through the fire and I've been through the rain but I'll be fine

'Cause I've got faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe, I can do anything

I've got strength of the soul
And no one's gonna bend or break me
I can reach any star, I've got faith
Faith of the

Faith of the heart
I'm going where my heart will take me
I've got faith to believe
That no one's gonna bend or break me

I can reach any star
'Cause I've got faith
'Cause I've got faith
Faith of the heart

It's been a long road

I love this. This is the best about Star Trek Enterprise. Because they start with the ancient people crossing oceans with their reed boats and rafts, and go through all the explorers, people who just had to know what was on the other side, what was "there", where are the limits... and there are no limits. People went to the moon! Can you realize that! Not even the sky is the limit! We CAN do anything!

Money, money, money...

That's one of the main concerns when it comes to bucket list. In the movie, one of they guys was very, very rich, and that's how they could do the things on the bucket list.
For me, half of the things I haven't done because of lack of money.

So - how to get the money?

1) There is a lot you can do without money.
Try to find the alternative, cheaper or free ways of doing things.
There is tons of tutorials and instructional videos on-line. Quite a lot of things can be self-taught. There are people who have taught themselves to sing and dance ballet. So "anyone" can do it.

This is Amira Willighagen.
She is 9 years old and she taught herself to sing opera, by watching YouTube videos.

"Sylvia Townsend spent her childhood practicing the dance routines of some of her favorite ballet dancers. At the age of 7, Sylvia began to search for all of the ballet books she could find on the Bookmobile. Townsend taught herself ballet, even going so far as to creating a barre from two chairs and a broomstick."
- Art of Ballet School Thrives in Richmond

But be aware of the risk.
On their toes and asking for trouble

Also, don't think you can teach yourself as well as a trained teacher would. There will be some holes in your knowledge, and you might not even be doing what ever it is you're doing right, but for most people being able to do something is good enough. One doesn't need to be GOOD at what one is doing.

That is one thing that I have noticed. I just assume that to be able to say I can do something, I must be good at it.
But I can read. I could read already when I was 6.
Was I "good" at it? I doubt that.
Right now I read in about 300 words a minute. It's a nice, average speed. Am I "good" at it? I don't know. And, frankly, I don't care.
I still think I can read, and so does everyone else, because I CAN read.
I can write.
I know English. Well enough to be here yapping in English. Am I good at it? Good enough. Confident enough to be yapping in public in English :-D I'm sure there's a lot room for improvement, but I have never claimed I'm expert in English language, or good at spelling and grammar. But I do know English, and I say I'm fluent in English.
I know Swedish. My Swedish is worse than my English, but I'm still fluent in Swedish, too.
I can walk, I can run, I can dance, I can cook and bake, I can... a lot of things. I don't put myself as an example, I don't claim I'm good at any of that (except baking. I am really good at baking :-D), I wouldn't teach any of that to anyone. But I can do all those things.
So - lower your standards.

2) Benny the Irish Polyglot has written a lot about how to travel cheap.

3) It's not a question of how much money you earn, it's how little you use, that makes you rich. Rich people don't waste their money on things and services they don't need. Quite a lot of the expenses of average people are such that could be cut out. We buy a lot of stuff to satisfy the "got to have" addiction. We live in a consumption society, where we are bombarded with the "got to have" everywhere.
Stop watching television for a month. You'll be surprised of how much time you get and how little you want and need.

Have a "need only" month. Every penny not used is a penny saved.

And start saving the pennies.
Start using real money, in stead of cards. Then you'll get change, which you can put in a jar, and in the end of the month, put that money in an account, and you'll be surprised of how much money has passed through your fingers you haven't even noticed!

There are lots of blogs, sites and articles online to help you saving more. Use them.
Like Get Rich Slowly

Like 52 weeks money challenge.
It's not too late to take that. It's only week 4.

 4) But it doesn't hurt to increase your income as well.
- ask a raise
-- could you increase your value as resource? Could you get better education, study, read, get skills and/or knowledge that would make you more valuable for your employer?
- consider changing work
- consider getting extra work
- do you have property you can sell?
- do you have skills you can turn into an income?

You could take the 52 weeks money challenge with EARNED money. First week earn 1 dollar, next 2 dollars and so on... How would you get the money if you HAD to find 1000 dollars in a month?

The most difficult thing in achieving goals

“The brick walls are there for a reason.
The brick walls are not there to keep us out.
The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something.
Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough.
They’re there to stop the other people.”
― Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture

The obstacles are there to stop the other people...
Think about that a little.

So... are you "the other people"?

Terry Pratchett talked about the village smith who could shoe anything. Once he shoes a flee, or some other insect.
The secret of being able to shoe anything is TO SHOE ANYTHING.
You find a way, and while doing that, you learn how to do it.

So - the only REAL obstacle is in your head. The little voice telling you you can't. You need to replace it with the Little Engine That Could. "I think I can, I know I can, I knew I could..."

And break it into small steps. Chart the road and take it in tiny steps, and remember to enjoy the view on the road :-D

And here's how to get from no splits to splits :-) Millions of people do it every day. You can, too.

Plan for a productive year

Make a 1 year plan.

Break it into 12 part plans and assign each for each month.

Break every month plan into 4 week plans.

Write them down in your calendar.

At the end of every week, review your progress, make a note of the weaknesses, mistakes etc. that made you not reach the goal, and make necessary corrections to the rest of the year's plan.

Do this at the end of every month as well.

Move the necessary steps to next month's plan.

Don't forget to have free days, when you are just to have fun and do nothing.

It's ok to change the plan as year passes.
Most people go through plans A-Z, and it's OK. There's an ocean of letters in the world :-D You might want to create plans alpha to omega next, and a to ja (Russian alphabet :-D). And if you run out of letters, you can always use numbers and signs. :-D

It's ok to change the goals, take on new one(s), ditch an old goal (or goals).

You will nevertheless have done more during the year than if you didn't have the plan and review meetings with yourself!

Reward yourself for excellent planning and work to fulfill your dreams at the end of the year by having the best New Year's Party you can imagine :-D

Become a connoisseur

One becomes a connoisseur of any "nautintoaine" in the same manner.

("Nautintoaine" is a Finnish word, compound of the words "enjoyment", "pleasure" and "substance". These are substances that are not enjoyed - drank or eaten - due to their nutritional value; like coffee, tea, chocolate, wine, beer and other alcoholic beverages, and sweets. Tobacco and drugs are also counted as a "pleasure substance".)

1) Learn as much as you can about the subject. There are books about wines, beer, tobacco... practically everything. The most popular substances have a lot of material to study; magazines, web sites, guides, even classes, societies and clubs.

2) Test as much of different varieties as one possibly can. Experiment, experiment, experiment. Try out different combinations. Try the substance during different times of the day, in combination with different situations and events, like which tea suits best for breakfast and which after a meal.
The most important thing here is that this is subjective discipline. You are the only person who knows what you like, you are the only person who knows what you think, the only person who associates the way you do, and your subjective experience of the pleasurable substance is as valid as anyone else's. The difference between an expert and a layman is experience.
(Well... you DO have to be able to smell and taste, remember flavors and so on. But your experience is not less valuable than anyone else's.)

3) Ask advice and counceling from specialists, like the staff of a specialized shop. Try what they recommend, and something you have chosen yourself and experience the differences.

4) Train your senses. Use your tongue, nose, eyes and lips, your hands, even your ears, to collect as much impact as you can. I find the sensory evaluation science interesting. You can read this article to know more about that. (It also reminds us of that there are more than 5 senses that impact our experience... Take them into account as well, and train them, too.)

5) Join a group of like-minded people. Find your tribe, and discuss with them. Learn from them.
6) Visit a place where your chosen substance is made. Learn how it is made, learn about the plants or animals where your chosen substance comes from, learn the proper, best way to prepare and enjoy your substance,

7) Try making your own. Most of these "pleasurable substances" can be made at home, like wine, cheese and tobacco. (Yes. That's the way they did it in the beginning of smoking :-D)

8) Keep a journal. Write down what you have tasted and your notes. You can collect there other people's reviews and experiences too.

Take the Walk of Faith in China

The Walk of Faith is "a glass plank path that meanders around a portion of the cliff face at 4,690 feet above Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park".

How to do it?

1) Find out how to travel to China, to Changjiajie and Tianmen mountain national forest park, and how much it will cost.
2) Get the money.
3) Go :-)

Sometimes it's really simple. Not easy, but simple.

One very important thing you must do before traveling to China is to find out their travel restrictions! The rules change quickly, like the ban on people with HIV.
